Simon Lawrence
Simon has over 30 years of IT experience, working in the software development, telecoms, and finance sectors. He has held roles in software development, security architecture, and information security strategy, as well as leading transformation and integration programmes.
Simon recently led the definition and design of a multi-million pound IT security transformation programme for a major UK bank. He also held a senior consultant role for another UK bank, providing interim IS expertise within their Information Security team for over 12 months until the permanent team was created.
Previous roles have included senior management positions in RBS, where Simon was responsible for defining the IS prioritisation and investment strategy for the whole group, and leading several major technology integration programmes. Prior to this, Simon was the Chief Architect at Intelligent Finance, and earlier led several technology transformation programmes within BT.
Simon’s repeated successes in defining and delivering complex IS strategies and technology change programmes for major organisations is based upon his ability to translate complex technical solutions into meaningful and compelling options for the business.
Simon states:
“Given the abstract nature of information risk, gaining senior leadership buy-in to a major IS strategy investment is challenging. This is because it requires a clear definition of the problem and investment need, as well as clarity about how the proposed solutions will address the actual risks.”
